Funeral services for Corporal Clovis Wayne Searcy, Jr., of the Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s Office will be held at 10:00 A.M., Thursday, March 11, 2010, at First Baptist Church of West Monroe. Services will also be broadcast during the services on www.firstwest.cc. Officiating will be Chaplain Jeff Luellen of the O.P.S.O., Chaplain Scott Thompson, of the O.P.S.O. and Reverend Clovis Sturdivant. “JR” will be eulogized by Sheriff Royce Toney. Interment will follow at Kilpatrick’s Serenity Gardens, 8729 Cypress Street, West Monroe, LA under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Homes of West Monroe.
Clovis Wayne “JR” Searcy, Jr., of West Monroe, died March 6, 2010, after being injured in the line of duty two days prior. He was born November 4, 1976, in West Monroe. He was a devoted father, husband and son, his children were the light of his life. He graduated from West Ouachita High School in 1994. He then entered the United States Air Force where he served 4 years as a military police officer and also met the love of his life, Kerry, his wife of 9 years. Continuing on his pursuit to serve and protect, JR joined the Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s Office where he served 8 years as a dedicated deputy which also included several years as a K9 officer which was his true passion. JR was such a hard worker and was always willing to help anyone in need. He was also a successful business owner of C&K Searcy Enterprises, a lawn care business and his hard work did not stop there, he was also dedicated to Woodlawn Elementary School by helping direct traffic during school arrivals and dismissals. As a final act of selflessness, he gave the gift of life through organ donation. During JR’s free time, he enjoyed many hobbies and past times which included participating in his children’s sporting events, four-wheel racing, mud digging, boating, water sports, and football especially the New Orleans Saints.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, James M. Searcy Sr. and Alice Marie Searcy and cousin/bestfriend Tony Searcy.
He is survived by his loving wife of 9 years, Kerry S. Searcy and his 2 children, Justin and Maegan Searcy, as well as his step-son Nicholas Lambert; mother Kay Guirlando and her husband, Rocky Guirlando; father Clovis W. Searcy Sr. and his wife, Ginger “Lou Lou” Searcy; brothers Cody Searcy and Casey Guirlando and his wife, Rainy Guirlando; maternal grandparents, Thomas D. Cupit and Marjorie Cupit of Rocky Branch, grandparents, Rosemary “MeMe” Crowson and her late husband, Marvin Crowson; brothers and sisters at heart, Tracy Wayne Crocker and his wife, Shana Crocker, Tommi Lynn Bush and her husband, Jay Bush, Gidgette Broussard and her husband, Jeremy Broussard and Brooke Whitehead; uncle James Searcy and his wife, Darlene Searcy, aunt Janis Cupit, uncle Thomas “Buddy” Cupit Jr.; uncle Terry Searcy, aunt Gayle Searcy, aunt Connie Beavers and her husband Joey Beavers, uncle Gary Dale Searcy; uncle Joe Guirlando and his wife, Peggy Guirlando, aunt Virginia Puckett and husband Billy Puckett, aunt Rosie Sikes and husband Rickey Sikes; mother-in-law Sue A. Bass and her husband, Robert Bass of Lincoln University, PA; father-in-laws George McAfee and his wife, Virginia McAfee of Fremont, OH, Stuart Small and his wife, Phyllis Small of Coastville, PA; sister-in-laws Stephanie Small and her fiancé, Lance Staib of Newark, DE, Amy Gray and her husband, Bill Gray of Oxford, PA, Tara McAfee and Heather McAfee of Fremont, OH; grandparents at heart, Loretta Mohr, Dorothy and Chuck Gnepper all of Fremont, OH, as well as a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and life long friends.
Pallbearers will be Casey Guirlando, Tracy Wayne Crocker, Jason Lillo, Jason Greenly, Scooter Day, Shelton Cooper, Cody Searcy, Kevin Brasher, Jason Hendry, Dennis Wall, Jeremy Broussard, Jim Funderburk, and Craig Elmore.
Honorary pallbearers will be the Ouachita Parish Sheriff Office Deputies.
