Vernell was born in Huttig, Arkansas, and lived most of her life in the Monroe / West Monroe area, with the exception of a few years in Great Falls, Montana and in Eldorado, Arkansas. Vernell was always known for her sense of humor even in her final days. Her grandchildren, nieces and nephews loved to be around her, never quite knowing what she would say next. For years she cared for her mother prior to her death in May 2003. She longed for the day she would join her husband, Bill, whom she so dearly loved. The family would like to thank all those who helped care for her during her final months –the caregivers and the nurses from hospice who showed genuine love and concern for her and the family.
